The first Ironworks in Lanarkshire

Established in 1779 near Forth, Scotland.  Its story is one of great enterprise, innovation, family disputes, hard work -  the story, in fact, of the early industrial era in Scotland.

Update on Tree Removal

The helicopter work is now completed and the remaining trees will be removed by another method soon.  Please be aware that there is still some minor disruption to the paths in the Ironworks, we are working hard to have everything back to normal soon.

Events at the Ironworks 2009

Come along for a fun guided walk on Friday 31st July and Sunday 13th September, 2-4pm.  You are sure to be entertained by the costumed characters who will lead you round the Wilson's Ironworks and tell you all about how things are going.  Booking is essential, please contact Emma Stewart for further information.

The Forestry Commission Scotland Ranger is available for guided walks and tours, and educational visits to the Ironworks for interested groups and individuals.  Please get in touch with us to discuss your requirements.
