Really unimpressed. Went Sat Oct 14th,first visit for several years but after 20 entrance fee for two of us, left after ten minutes! Expected to enjoy the Autumn colour. But not countless dogs on extending leads, not only fighting but in the way, children on scooters again in the way, burger stands etc, etc.Complete chaos, also found entrance and the area round the cafe very scruffy. No attempt at all to make it attractive. No intention of a return visit, National Trust should consider the ethos behind Westonbirt.

Thanks for taking the time to send us your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your visit. As autumn is our busiest time of year, the main entrance to the site is often busy during the day. However, with 600 acres to explore it is possible to get away from the crowds. If you want some advice on where to go for a quieter walk then please do just ask a member of staff at the Welcome Building. In order to cater for the needs of all our visitors, we do allow dogs in the Silk Wood (off the lead as long as they are kept under control) and on the lead on the Downs area. However, the Old Arboretum is a dog free zone. In order to provide food and drink options for all our guests, during the autumn we do have additional catering vans onsite. This is to ensure that everyone is able to purchase refreshment without having to queue for too long. Please note that Westonbirt Arboretum is cared for by the Forestry Commission, not the National Trust

Forestry Commission Response

Came down from Edinburgh and thought would be good time to visit. Appreciated the stewards directing the parking, but one look at the queue to enter and turned and left, there was no sign it was even moving, and we were not the only ones to give up at this stage. Appreciate this is peak season, but other attractions offer the ability to buy/book in advance and with a starting point 400 miles north don't think a season-ticket is a value for money option.

Thanks for taking the time to send us your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you were unable to enter the Arboretum. Mid-October is the busiest time of the year for us and queuing is to be expected to enter site. We work with our parking partner to ensure that everyone can enter the arboretum as quickly and safely as possible. 10am-1:30pm is often our busiest time in terms on people arriving onsite, and so if you wish to avoid the queues we strongly advise that you arrive outside of these times.

Hi

Me and my family would love to see the red Autumn leaves, just wondering how's the color now? we are planning to pay a visit on the Nov 3 weekend. Also, any booking needed to get into the park?

Many thanks !

Joyce, 15/Oct/2017

So great to hear that you are planning a visit to us! The autumn colours are looking beautiful, so you're in for a treat. At the moment we're just coming into the peak of the season, with stunning oranges and reds coming through. Although it is impossible to say how long the season will last, you should be ok with mid-November. To keep up completely up to date with the colours, you can check our Friday colour updates on Facebook or call our autumn hotline on 0300 067 5691. There is no need to book for the car park. We look forward to seeing you soon.
