Forestry Commission Scotland is advising members of the public that its car park at Scolty (Mains of Auchattie, 1 mile south west of Banchory) will be closed from 10th-12th September.

The closure will allow the urgent repair of the access road.

Dan Cadle, for the Commission’s team in the area said:

“We did some harvesting in the area earlier this year, which normally would have been fine, but with the addition of heavy rain into the mix, the road sustained some damage.

“We need to get this fixed as soon as we can so that visitors can get to Scolty easily and safely.

“It will cause some inconvenience while the work is being done – and we apologise for this – but I think everyone will appreciate the difference once we’re done.”

Scolty Wood has two low level trails and is very popular with walkers and cyclists. It also offers access to General Burnett’s monument and its stunning views across Deeside.
