The Forestry Commission’s Haldon Forest Park will be hosting a theatre show with a difference this Halloween.  Theatre company Burn the Curtain will be performing their exciting outdoor show – The Company of Wolves – on the 29th, 30th and 31st of October.  Tickets are on sale now from the Forestry Commission box office.

The show, which is suitable for people aged 8 and over, is based on the classic collection of stories by author Angela Carter.  It has been adapted by South West based theatre company Burn the Curtain and playwright Shiona Morton as a unique and exciting theatrical adventure for runners and walkers.

The stories include ancient folklore and mythical tales known to us all such Red Riding Hood, Peter and the Wolf and Wolf Alice.  In The Company of Wolves, Red Riding Hood lives in a tiny village on the edge of dark and distant mountains and one night she puts on her red shoes and cloak and heads into the forest alone, watched by unseen eyes.  As the shadows lengthen, she begins to run and the hunt begins.

There are two options for audience members to either run for 4 miles or walk for 2 and a half.  The story is told along the way and there are regular stops.  Joe Hancock, Artistic Director of Burn the Curtain says: “Haldon Forest Park will provide the perfect setting for our show.  Join Red Riding Hood as she walks and runs through the forest, where wolves may also hide at night!”

Toby Bowen Scott, Haldon Forest Park Manager says:

“We are delighted to be working with Burn the Curtain to host three performances of this classic story.  It will be a completely new way for people to explore Haldon, under the cover of darkness, as part of an exciting and engaging theatrical show.  We already have lots of people who walk and run at Haldon, who this show will really appeal to.”

Tickets cost £10 per adult and £7.50 for children.  Visit for more details.
