Grimm Brother’s

For generations, the trees of Westonbirt Arboretum have been a source of inspiration for artists, poets, architects, photographers, performers and many creative visionaries. To celebrate how trees and nature have helped to shape art and culture around us, this winter Forestry Commission staff at Westonbirt are launching a very special activity at the arboretum.

From the 18th January, visitors will be able to pick up 20 different free postcards from the Welcome Building, each highlighting a different example of art inspired by trees. Did you know that over half of the Grimm Brother’s fairy tales include trees or forests? Or that tree symbolism is used in the Lebanese flag?

On the back of the postcards there is space for visitors to come up with their own artistic creations. Write a poem, draw a picture, create music or take up a yoga pose.

The Forestry Commission invite each visitor to share their creations with them – postcards can be displayed on the the display board in the Welcome Building or on social media – we’d love to see them!
