Spring 2011 Cumbria Woodlands forum

6 April 2011

What was the event?

The Spring 2011 Cumbria Woodland forum provided the opportunity to hear the latest information on Phytophthora ramorum, its current extent, progress with control and why large areas of infected larch in South West England and Wales need to be felled as soon as possible. Speakers explained the plant health legislation and shared their predictions for the potential impact of the disease in the North West in the future. Woodland officers were also present to advise on site-specific management issues.

Dr Joan Webber of Forest Research gave an "Update on the science of the disease".
