LI-COR Biosciences is providing an Eddy Covariance Training Workshop over three days at Forest Research, Roslin (near Edinburgh), Scotland on 15-17 May 2018. This training class is designed for those new to the Eddy Covariance method.

The Eddy Covariance technique is a key atmospheric measurement technique to measure and calculate vertical turbulent fluxes within atmospheric boundary layers. The method analyzes high-frequency wind and scalar atmospheric data series, and yields values of fluxes of these properties. It is a statistical method used in meteorology and other applications to determine exchange rates of trace gases over natural ecosystems and agricultural fields, and to quantify gas emissions rates from other land and water areas. It is frequently used to estimate momentum, heat, water vapour, carbon dioxide and methane fluxes.

For some more information on how Forest Research is using Eddy Covariance techniques see the link to our Harwood Forest research pages here.

There is limited space for this free event so please register early. Registrations will be handled on first come first serve basis. Travel, accommodation, and meals are the registrant's responsibility.
Date: 15 – 17 May (three-day course), 2018, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Registration deadline: April 17th 2018
Location: Forest Research Northern Research Station, Roslin, EH25 9SY, Scotland

Course Objectives:

  • Introduction to the eddy covariance theory, experimental design, and applications
  • Setup, operate and maintain a complete CO2/CH4/H2O eddy covariance system
  • Process raw flux data using EddyPro and SmartFlux
  • Perform 2D footprint visualisation, gap filling and quality control with LI-COR’s new ecosystem data analysis tool – Tovi

LI-COR will also be present at EGU Vienna April 8-13th. Join us for our Tovi splinter session and register here.
