Highway Rat

Highway Rat Activity trail at Whinlatter

Coming to our forests this winter!

The Highway Rat is the latest Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler book to be brought to life on our forest trails. Follow the panels, complete activities and interact with the forest as you head on a journey with The Highway Rat and all the characters from the story!

Activity KitHighway Rat trail dates and information

The trail will be opening on 1st December. It is aimed at younger children, but the whole family can enjoy completing activities and spotting characters. You can find the start of the trail at visitor centre and it is about 1.25 miles in length.

Activity KitActivity Pack

Join the Highway Rat on his journey through the forest with the Highway Rat Activity Pack! The pack contains an activity leaflet plus an extra activity sheet, a Highway Rat mask, stickers of the Highway Rat characters, a pencil and a crayon. Buy your activity pack from the visitor centre for just £3.
PLEASE NOTE that the Visitor Centre is only open weekends through Janaury so the trail will be open every day but activity packs can only be purchased at weekends.  The Visitor Centre will be open daily from 27th Jaunuary.

Parking

There is a 'pay on exit' system at the visitor centre, the first hour is just £2 then 45p per 20 mins after that. Max all day £8.
