Ruff guide to Grizedale Forest
(Average user rating: unrated unrated)

Find out about me, my owner and my favourite place for a walk in Grizedale Forest, as well as great dog friendly places to eat and sleep near by.

Making a bug home at an Eco-Kids event. My owner and me

I may have a stumpy tail like many Border Terriers, but I really don’t mind. I wag it anyway when I feel like it. I am looked after by administrative officer Dawn, who is great.

Making a bug home at an Eco-Kids event. Favourite treat

Skittles – I love tasting the rainbow.

Making a bug home at an Eco-Kids event. Best trick

When I want a biscuit I have conditioned my owners to give me one when I jump around on my back legs - like a proper circus dog and everything. I know, I’m impressed myself.

Making a bug home at an Eco-Kids event. Arch rival

I don’t really have an arch rival. I love everyone and everything, especially my best friend, a one-year-old German Wired Haired Pointer, who I'm teaching how to wrestle. We chase each other for hours - it’s a big job, but somebody’s got to do it and look after him as he’s only little and needs to be shown what to do. After all that, I also love curling up for a nap, preferably on some clean washing because it smells nice.

Making a bug home at an Eco-Kids event. Favourite places for a walk

I love being in the forest and investigating all the interesting smells, of which there are many. My favourite walk is the Grizedale Tarn Trail. It’s the best for smells.

Making a bug home at an Eco-Kids event. Water stops

There are water bowls conveniently located in the courtyard by the cafe and at the car park toilet block.

Making a bug home at an Eco-Kids event. Other useful information

I'm told leads, tethers, collars and other accessories are available from the Rheged@Grizedale shop. There are also dog trailers available for hire from Grizedale Mountain Bikes to give tired little doggies a rest. Visit Grizedale Forest for more information about what's available on site.
