Do you want to help look after your local woodlands in South Northamptonshire?
The Forestry Commission is about to undertake a national 'volunteering project' in 2014, and we have been very lucky here in Northants to secure the resources available to develop this project locally.
This means that we now have capacity to lead volunteering sessions at a handful of Forestry Commission woodlands in this area.
Try your hand at 'coppicing' or have a bash at 'bashing'?
Tasks are varied and previous experience is not required as training for each activity will be given along with a full health and safety briefing. Tools and personal protective equipment are provided by us - as are the tea and biscuits! All we ask is that you turn up with suitable clothing and footwear for outdoors work, a packed lunch, and a 'can do' attitude.
Through these sessions, you'll learn about the management of our forests, develop or improve related skills, experience the outdoors in a group activity, meet like-minded people, and make a real difference to the woodlands that you'll be helping to maintain.
