Fantastic Forests KS2 - (Half day) 'Ranger Led'. Powerpoint presentation on arrival followed by a morning in the forest learning about tree ID with keys, seed dispersal, plus a variety of fun learning activities. This will include a mini beast hunt.
Self led afternoon session: Why not hire one of our 'Ranger in a bag' resources to complete a full day of activities in the forest. These are: mini beasts, pond dipping, sensory, art, shelter building and forest detectives.
Key concepts: Tree ID, how a tree works, habitats, sustainability and uses.
*New* - Soil to seed - (half day) ranger led. Take a journey through the forest and discover how the soil and rocks affect how trees and plants survive. Learn about the uses of tree products and the way in which the ground beneath benefits us in everyday life. This will include games and activities such as, soil and rocks game, rock or tree bingo and sieving.
Self led afternoon session: Use our resources to expand your knowledge of wood use and soils rocks and fossils.
Key concepts: Habitats, soils, rocks and fossils, wood products and forest cycle.
Forest Survival - (Half day) Ranger led. Could you survive in Cannock Chase? Learn about the trees and plants that could help you. Have a go at fire lighting and take part in various team building activities.
Shelter building - Self led. Hire the equipment and the instructions to build your own natural shelters in the forest. You will be directed to a suitable area to carry out your activity.
Key concepts: Survival, team work, problem solving, communication skills and co-operation.
Led visit: £5.50 per child (includes room hire). Make your visit a full day option by taking advantage of our equipment for no extra cost.
Self led only - 'Ranger in a bag', up to two programmes, £50 per class - Room hire £60.
