Events at Whinlatter

Whinlatter has a programme of events throughout the year from family events run by the ranger team to large scale sporting events including adventure races, trail runs and car rallies.

Visiting the forest through the year gives you a host of different sights and sounds, from the changing colours of the trees, to the different wildlife you can see.

Gruffalo Spotters' Trail

Stargazing in the Forest

Starry sky at Gisburn Forest





Visit our family-friendly "Why stars matter" self-led trail to bring the night sky to life. The trail runs from 10 Jan 2017 until 31 March 2017, starting on the Wildplay trail, follow the waymarkers on this one mile trail. Download our Beginners Guide to Stargazing for more facts and top tips.

Trek Tipi offers a whole different way to experience the woodland at Dodd, by combining walking with tipi camping in a stunning location.

Nic's Nordic Walks provides a fantastic way to improve our fitness on our forest trails, maximising the health benefits of getting outdoors.
