Hamsterley Forest Horse Riding Trails

Latest News (14/11/2017 10:48)

Trail diversions. The harvesting operation will affect the stretch known as the “Silver Mile” which is used by the Spurlswood (red) walking trail, the Pennington (brown) horse trail and the blue cycle trail. There are diversion signs in place.

For everyone’s safety please follow the diversion signs around this area. Many thanks.

Horse riders in the forest

Enjoy miles of waymarked horse-riding routes that let you explore the heart of this beautiful forest. Please note, space for horse box parking and mounting blocks are located in Oak Tree Car Park (1 mile along the Forest Drive from the Bedburn entrance) and the Grove car park (another mile on from Oak Tree Car Park). It is worth noting that at peak times the forest can be very busy with vehicles and other users, especially at weekends and bank holidays. Consider arriving early on peak days to ensure easier parking and quieter trails. Download a map of the horse riding trails (page 2 of the download).
