There is so much to do at Birches Valley Forest Centre, the only hard bit is deciding what you are going to do first! Amazing bike trails, adventure play, go ape, segways, walking, horse riding, orineteering and so much more

Amazing Bike Trails

The midlands premier destination for mountain biking, from relaxing family rides through picturesque valleys to the dedicated singletrack of Follow the Dog and the Monkey Trail for enthusiasts.

Trails for everyone

The perfect starting point for a woodland walk. From a gentle stroll around the Ladyhill Trail with lots to see and do, to longer walks around the picturesque Fairoak or Sherbrook valleys.


Dogs are welcome in all areas of Cannock Chase Forest except the Play Area and food service area of Birches Valley Café. We have water bowls located on benches outside the Café for your dog to have a drink.

Adventure Play

Our play area is prefect to keep your young ones entertained and give you a minute’s peace. Set within huge Pine trees with play structures such as climbing frames, scramble nets, swings & slides.

Go Ape Treetop Adventure

Bring out your inner ape! Take on zip wires, tarzan swings, rope ladders and hire-wire crossings, with the UK's number one tree top adventure. Visit Go Ape to book.

If you are looking for a challenge what better way to explore our woods than orienteering, a perfect mix of fitness, skill and fun.

Gruffalo Orienteering

The Gruffalo Orienteering Course has arrived at Birches Valley! Maps will be available from Grounds Cafe and Go Ape for £1.50

BBQ & Picnics

Birches Valley is the perfect place for a sizzling hot BBQ or lazy summer picnic Follow our simple guidance to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience. 

Camping & Caravanning

Tackeroo is the perfect location for a forest holiday. Located in mature Pine forest with basic facilities, roaming Fallow Deer and other wildlife, only a short drive away from Birches Valley.

Horse Riding

Enjoy a scenic ride through mature pine forests, birch woodlands and open heathland on our network of bridleways, forest roads and tracks...


Fairoak Fishing pools are run by the Prince Albert Angling Society (PAAS). Fishing the pools is exclusive to PAAS members.
