All the hire prices can be found on the Cyclewise website, Trailers aren't available to hire as the mountain bike trails aren't suitable for riding with a trailer. If you'd like more advise on suitable trails please call visitor information on 017687 78469.

Are there any family cycle trails and can you hire bikes

Anonymous, 9/Jun/2016

Bikes can be hired from Cyclewise on site, their website has details of options and prices, Due to the nature of our terrain, the options for gentle family cycle are limited. The waymarked cycle trails are blue (moderate) and red (difficult) graded. The blue is suitable for riders with some off road skills, there are some climbs, small obstacles, berms etc. Our visitor centre staff will be very happy to offer you suggestions of other routes tailored to your family's level of confidence and experience. E-mail them at or call 017687 78469

Forestry Commission Response

Good Morning,

I am writing to to you to enquire about a camp for a school trip for Special Needs Children.

We have 3 days in Ambelside and are looking to do activities during the day. The dates we are available are: 14th, 15th and 16th of July 2016.

What do you have on offer that our boys can access?

What are your prices, do you offer a discounted rate for SEN children or carers?

Please note that all our students have social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. Rather than physical disabilities.

Many thanks in Advance for your help and Kindest Regards,

Sebastian Neal
