Parking Charges and Discovery Pass

There is a parking charge per car, £1.70 for 0-2 hours, £3.30 for 2-4 hours or £6.10 for a 4 hours + stay. The site operates an automatic number plate recognition system. This will record your registration and the time you enter the woods. If you want to stay all day you can pay staright away. Otherwise just head to the Information Point and Pay stations when you are ready to leave and pay for your visit. Machines take cards, contactless and cash. They do give change. Visit England recommend a stay of about 4 hours to get the most from your visit.

A ‘Discovery Pass’ will let you show your support for your local forest. It will give you and your family free car parking at your local forest, a seasonal e-newsletter, and discounts and vouchers for shops and activities on and off site. A Discovery Pass is available for £42 a year. Click Discovery Pass for more information.

Toilets are available on-site, open at all times that the Forest Drive is open. We are currently carrying our improvement works so there are two temporary toilet blocks adjacent to the information centre, which are open during school and public holidays. There are accessible toilets and baby change, feminine and nappy bins on-site.

The Café in the woods serves a variety of home produced and locally sourced food and drink. It is open 364 days a year, closed Christmas Day.

Childrens Play

Due to our ongoing redevelopment project there is no formal play provision in Wendover Woods, however we can offer amazing opportunities for wild play everywhere in the woods. For younger visitors the Highway Rat trail and the den-building area are available, and we are soon opening a Gruffalo orienteering course. Later this year we will be building a brand new adventure play trail which will include a number of specially commissioned pieces designed to suit the site.

Dogs are welcome in the forest everywhere except the Children's Play Area. Please bear in mind the area around the Café in the Woods is used by many people and for their consideration, please consider putting your dog on a lead.

Dogs in the wider woods must be under control at all times (if it is out of your sight it is not under control).

Facilities for the less able

Wendover Woods is wheelchair accessible and has fully accessible toilet facilities. An easy access trail is available from close to the central area and runs through the woods, taking in the highest point in the Chilterns. There isn't a view at the highest point but continue round the trail and you won't be disappointed when you reach our viewpoint. Dedicated disabled parking is also available fro 25 cars. For our full access statement please click here.

LOtC-site-logo.jpgThis site has been awarded a CLOtC Site Provider Award. The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) is the national voice for learning outside the classroom.
