We are soon to launch our new website for the public forests in England. Take an early look at the beta site

Volunteering in South Northamptonshire

Do you want to help look after your local woodlands in South Northamptonshire?

We now have capacity to lead volunteering sessions at a handful of Forestry Commission woodlands in this area.

Try your hand at 'coppicing' or have a bash at 'bashing'?

Tasks are varied, but previous experience is not required as training for each activity will be given, along with a full health and safety briefing.

Tools and basic personal protective equipment are provided by us - as is the tea and biscuits! All we ask is that you turn up with suitable clothing and footwear for outdoors work, a packed lunch, and a 'can do' attitude.

Through these sessions, you'll learn about the management of our forests, develop or improve related skills, experience the outdoors in a group activity, meet like-minded people, and make a real difference to the woodlands that you'll be helping to maintain.

Shadow Ranger Placement

Placements run for 6 months where the volunteer shadows a member of staff 1-3 days a week. These days are flexible and depend on shadow and mentor availability and requirements.  They will gain experience of working within the Forestry Commission and assist their mentor to complete various tasks.

To discuss what opportunities are currently available please email Brian Pollard .
