Family trails

You can follow our family trails in the Old Arboretum (dog-free) or Silk Wood (dog-friendly). There are plenty of natural play features along the way too! Pick up a Family Activity Map from the Welcome Building upon arrival!

Explore the wonderful variety of leaves from our global tree collection. Try our leaf challenges and design your very own leaf using our leaf characteristic dice!

Seeing the Wood for the Trees

We'll be exploring wood through a range of craft fun and challenges! Make your woen tree frame and take the wood ID challenge.

In Good Shape

Westonbirt is a Children’s University Learning Destination!

The Children’s University is a charity dedicated to encouraging children 7 to 14 (and 5 to 6 year olds with their families) to try new things, engage in new experiences and learn outside of the school setting. All our seasonal family trails are now validated to earn three hours on a Children’s University passport. To claim your hours please email a photo of your completed family activity leaflet to
