Follow the children’s trail through the trees... swing, slide, splash and climb...
but most of all, enjoy playing in this amazing mountain forest!

Nine fantastic play areas

Consisting of nine separate play areas linked by a 600m-long trail, the free to play Whinlatter WildPlay trail is a unique attraction for children.

Test your engineering skills on the Archimedes Screws and draw water from the stream or work with friends to move gravel using the pulleys and shoots in the gravel pit. Try out the climbing wall and giant timber climbing frame or fly through the air on the log swing. For the younger children, visit the fairy kingdom with its secret path and hidden carvings.

Mountains of Challenge

It has been designed to be a superb way for children to experience a healthy and physical challenge in the spectacular surroundings of England’s only mountain forest.

Come and try WildPlay today!

We've also got permanent children's activity trails to help younger visitors explore the forest and the wildlife that lives within it.

All trails should take around an hour to complete. Call at the Visitor Information Centre to buy your trail map - choose from the Squirrel Scurry or Tracks Trail.
