Trail description

Whether you've just bought your first bike, or you're looking for a gentle ride through the woods, Wyre Community Discovery Centre offers a fantastic opportunity for natural cycling.

1. The trail

Learn to ride your bike in the forest! Cycling in the forest is one of the safest and most relaxing ways to pick up confidence and develop cycling skills. Explore the safe, traffic free network of forest roads to build confidence as you learn.

Explore the waymarked Blue Cycle Route by following the blue cycle markers through the woods. This 4.75 mile route takes you down forest tracks through a varied woodland landscape, including old oaks and giant Douglas Fir trees, through the Nature Reserve and along the disued railway line.

Passing through Wyre Forest is 'Route 45', part of a national cycle route linking Chester to Salisbury. It enters the forest at Buttonoak and heads south along the forest roads, across Dowles Brook heading towards Bewdley along the old railway line. The Family Mountain Bike Route links Route 45 to the café and info point.

2. Facilities, events, and things to look out for

  • Drop by the Forest café for a post-ride coffee and bacon buttie! There are also several picnic benches on a grassed area near to the car park, why not stop for a family picnic?
  • Shop and hire bikes from our excellent local bike shop Bewdley Outdoors. Contact them on 01299 266601 or email for bookings and enquiries.

Great trail a little bit taxing for my six year old on his new bike but on the whole great family route would recommend

Great track, well sign posted, some good fast runs and corners. Track itself was mud-free, compressed gravel and generally fun to ride on.

Parking was cheap - 3 for whole day, bacon butties and toilet onsite is great.
