Whether walking, riding or picnicking, Hay Wood is the perfect place to get away from it all and relax. As a peaceful ancient woodland site there is a great diversity of wildlife to look out for; foxgloves, bluebells, birds, butterflies, rabbits and Muntjac deer are just a few you could encounter.

This is a beautiful woodland, that helps you escape from the fast hectic modern world we live in.It is not horses that are causing a problem but the irresponsible dog owners who allow the dogs to poop and not clean up afterwards.Just because you are walking your dog in a wood doesn't mean you leave the poop on the ground.Bag it and bin it when you get home.Thankyou.

The facilities are none existent, basic paths and forestry work happening, its a forest that does not cater for tourists - the way I like it. Was surprised with the invertebrate abundance. With the correct management replacing the non native tree species will be positive for the area.
