(Average user rating: 5 unrated 4.5/5)

At Dimmingsdale the Forestry Commission has turned an aristocrat's dream into a delight for everyone. Magnificent drives built by the Earl of Shrewsbury have been incorporated in the Valley walk.

Visitors to this North Staffordshire beauty spot can now stroll where fine carriages once carried gentry on pleasure trips. The rolling hills and dramatic sandstone outcrops make a visit to this woodland a delight at any time of the year.

The terrain is steep in some places but low level strolls around the magnificent pools are popular with many visitors. Some of the land is in private ownership and visitors are asked to respect this.

The Ramblers Retreat offers a wide range of refreshments in a relaxed licensed restaurant. The spacious car park, permissive way marked walk and beautiful surroundings make this a popular destination for walkers.

Why not have fun learning whilst you walk with your family. To make you visit more exciting you can purchase an activity pack from the ramblers retreat, for £4, it contains a bug jar, a little woodland animal. mini frisbee, activity ideas and more.

Absolutely amazing place. So picturesque

And peaceful.

To top of this fabulous walk we saw a pair of black swans, then went to the ramblers retreat which is nice too.

Had an awesome walk around Dimmings Dale today with my Saluki called Harry. A fantastic location, both with the walk along the Churnet Valley and the Forest alongside.
