Trail description

Veteran beech at Holystone North WoodThe Green Walk offers a short stroll to visit Lady’s Well, a pool of water that marks the spot where St. Paulinus supposedly baptised 3000 Northumbrians during Easter week, AD 627. A longer route pass along the southern edge of North Wood - a semi-natural oak wood now designated as a Nature Reserve. Trails also traverse Holystone Common, a reserve jointly managed with Northumberland Wildlife Trust. The Common comprises upland heather moor and juniper scrub, with atmospheric oak and birch woods.
