Trail description

Dog walking in the forestFollow this trail through Haye Park Wood. This part of the Forest is full of quarries, charcoal burning platforms, saw pits, holloways (ancient sunken cart tracks), a deer park pale and an Iron Age/ Romano British settlement. All reminders that the woods were once alot busier than they are today.
Over the coming decades this area will be reverted to a woodland of mixed native trees as part of the Forestry Commission's commitment to biological diversity and cultural heritage.

thought the forest was amazing we did the Blackpool loop as weather wasn't great, what upset me was how much dog poo was on the path, worst of all a huge pile in front of the information board, people don't deserve to have such a lovely place to walk, despite numerous signs asking people to flick it in the under growth. It really made me so mad how selfish people are, wish I could have caught them in the act..Thank you for an almost faultless walk..
