Trail description

Family on the Reptile Centre trail. New Forest FD

The published self led trail guide for this circular walk starts at the New Forest Reptile Centre, however, because the Centre is closed for the winter, walkers now have to park at Millyford Bridge car park and start the trail from the gate on the Emery Down road.

Millyford Bridge can be found on the PDF map of FC car parks in the New Forest (see Related Documents on this or the Explore the New Forest page). Walk west along the road and cross with care at the Portuguese Fireplace.  Walk along a little further until you come to a five bar gate.  Go into the inclosure through this gate and walk along the track until you come to a small pond. This pond features on the trail guide at point 6, locate the pond on the trail guide map to orientate yourself.  Now simply follow the red ring markers to enjoy the circular walk.

Download a copy of the Trail Guide before setting out...see below

The route is about 1 mile long

The trail has a fairly smooth gravelled surface, although the mid section is a dirt path and will be muddy at this time of year.

Please note that part of this trail is on a cycle track.

A pdf guide map of the trail, which shows the route and  suggestions for activities along the way, can be downloaded by clicking here.
