Trail description

View of the Wye valley from Symonds Yat Rock. Forest of Dean

Running up through the Iron Age fort and then around its eastern border, this trail follows tracks and roads through attractive mixed woodland.

Along the route there are 10 nature trail boards with things for you to look out for as you walk.

A nearby viewpoint can be reached by following a short section of the Mailscot Wood Trail, which has a rougher surface and steps.

The one star ratings are unfair although I do agree with the comments regarding sign posting on other trails. The path is easy to follow and a simple walk. Overall, this is a beautiful site for walking around and is easily the best in the Forest.

Currently supposed to be no this path but am lost. Looking for markers but not seen one since the very start. Love walking by myself but feeling very alone right now

Lovely day for fantastic panoramic views! Could have done with a hot drink though!

Glad you had a good day. The cafe has limited opening times in the winter months - weekends only.
