Children playing in the water. Blackpool brook. Forest of Dean

A popular picnic site with picnic tables, bbq places, an easy access path and a paddling area.

The Blackpool Brook trickles through the site under the dappled shade of the large oak trees.  An easy access path runs down from the car park to the picnic site.

General Info

Please keep disposable barbeques on the rocks provided to avoid any unecessary damage to the grass or picnic tables.  No fires permitted.

To help keep Wenchford tidy for your next visit, please take your litter home and recycle.

Schools wishing to use the site for educational activities should first inform the Forestry Commission on 0300 0674800.

After a relaxing picnic or BBQ why not take a short walk through the trees around this popular picnic site on the 0.6 mile Blackpool Brook trail.

The trail runs on hard surfaced paths along the picnic site and onto the track above.

The cafe is open at weekends, serving hot and cold drinks, ice cream and light snacks.

Love the place but why block off the one end ? Could expand this area for more parking as today (very busy ) was overflowing onto the road ! .

Thank you for your review. We blocked this route a few years ago as there wasn't enough room to safely pass two cars, a one way system was considered at the time. Wenchford can get very busy on hot sunny days and we are aware parking was an issue on the weekend.

My first visit, yesterday. yes it was raining but the beauty of the area stood out. perhaps next time I'll choose a nicer day to explore the area. Good to see you have a cafe and toilet facilitys

pity the cafe wasnt open, a cup of tea and a sarnie and my brief visit would've been complete.

Thank you for your feedback. The refreshment kiosk will be open very soon and in time for the school holidays.
