Trail description

This extension from the Fir Trail will take you through coniferous forest to Rishbeth Wood, which is an interesting mix of Pine, Oak, Beech and Larch. It is particularly attractive in Autumn and is a good fungus hunting area. On the approach to the wood you cross a sandy heathland and pass by the Thetford Warren Lodge, which dates back to 1400. This trail is 6 miles in length when linked with the Fir trail.

A map showing the walking trails around High Lodge is available from the Forest Centre. (You can also view a printable version of the map online. Why not print off a copy before you visit?

Had a really enjoyable walk around the "Beech Trail" today, but I have a question. The map says 3 miles, my old map (2003) says 3.5 miles, but if you start from Thetford Warren Lodge car park the new wooden sign post states "Beech Trail Circular Walk 4.25 miles, so how far is it?. kind regards

Paul Scott, 1/Apr/2018

Thank you for your question. The Beech trail is 3 miles long but the additional distance is from Thetford Warren Car park to the start of the trail. This is not FC land and belongs to Norfolk County Council.

Please can you tell me what the 2017 rates are for a weekly car pass? I would also like to know how these weekly tickets can be purchased

Louise Tye, 19/Feb/2017

The 2017 rate for a weekly car pass is currently 15. This can be purchased at High Lodge Information Point, when you are next visiting the site.
