Trail description

In December 1980 several sightings of a UFO were reported in Rendlesham Forest...

Interpretation sigh for the UFO trail in Rendlesham forest. Many people think these mysterious events are the most significant UFO incident to have occured in the UK. There is no tangible evidence on the ground, but following the trail with the help of our leaflet and your imagination, an intriguing picture can be painted.

To help your children round the UFO Trail, why not look for the strange symbols on the posts and decode the message with help from our Alien Trail Leaflet, available from the Forest Office.

UFO on the UFO trail in Rendlesham.New addition to the trail

The Rendlesham UFO has finally landed! We're delighted to say that visitors to Rendlesham's UFO trail will now be able to see what the UFO sighted in 1980 was believed to have looked like.

What do other visitors say?

Had a lovely day there till a lady came up and told us she was building a BBQ next to the table we were eating off ? I called over the warden who just advised her it wasn't a good idea but seems the hard standing next to picnic tables are for BBQ and tough ? And as she had a permit she was going to light it ? Hence to say we had to vacate the table with all the children to sit in the school shed thing in middle of grass ???? As it lady it wasn't idea

But couldn't stay there to be smoked out with kids with health problems now could we !! Think you should seriously think about putting BBQ area to the left of the grass so all in one area not amount people picnicking ? And then all know where to go for BBQ ? No one was happy at tables to be smoked out of there tables and find it mad that you put then amoung the picnic tables not at a disigned area ? Even the wardens couldn't help as they told her to find a concrete area ??? I have used this forest for last 15 years while kids growing up , never had such a horrid day as this ended in after rowing with this woman ? And total unessisary if BBQ was no where near others ?

Well my pets took me for a walk here today, and it was so good at one point I went crazy self chasing! It was probably the aroma of aliens! It was a lovely walk for New Year's Day with well kept paths for them, and fern covered woods for me. I like drizzle and prefer it a bit more chilly to be honest! The human pets seemed to think it was their idea, no wonder the aliens didn't stay... it would be too easy to take over!

My partner took me to Rendlesham Forest as a surprise treat for my birthday last year. We did the UFO trail and loved it. Such fun and the forestry commission are great sports for creating this. Amazing to behold a metal sculpture in the clearing where the unknown craft supposedly landed in 1980. A fantastic story and a great interpretation. Even without the drama of this mystery, the forest is exceptionally beautiful and we will certainly return one day.
