Trail description

This is the longest of three walks which take you round this fascinating woodland.

Whitwell is rich in flora and fauna and there's something to see all year round.

Used to live nearby and have used these woods on many occasions. Can be very muddy in winter if you veer off the designated routes. Used to be a badger's set at the bottom end but they've most probably been culled now. I remember cycling through the woods and an angry gamekeeper type man who used to work from a chaconne in the middle of the woods would go ballistic and shout his head off at me. Cyclists are definately not welcome. Also there are some ponds down the bottom end and a Kingfisher used to be spotted at one of them. The wood is easily accessible from the layby and there are many routes you can take.
