Trail description

There are four different courses suitable for complete beginners to advanced users:-

Star (easy) 0.6km
It is aimed at complete beginners and helps you to become familiar with the Visitor Centre surroundings.  The control points/numbers can be found in any order.

Line (moderate) 1.4km
Venturing further into the woods using well surfaced paths and variable terrain.  The control points/numbers to be found in numerical order.

Course A (hard) 2.4km 
This is a more challenging course with control points located deeper into the woods and more remote navigation and variable conditions underfoot.  The control points/numbers to be found in numerical order.

Course B (hard) 3.5km - CLOSED DUE TO HARVESTING
This is our hardest course with steeper and more varied terrain and greater distance.  The control points/numbers to be found in numerical order.


Pin puncher, Orienteering, WhinlatterThe control points are numbered on wooden posts or attached to furniture and has a "pin puncher" to mark your boxes at the bottom of the map.

Orienteering maps can be purchased from the Visitor Centre and cost £1.50 each.
