SUTTON MANOR FROM THE AIRSutton Manor is a 230 acre site located in St Helens next to the M62 on the former Sutton Manor Colliery. At its highest point it is over 200m above sea level.

The Forestry Commission took over the lease in 2001 and transformed the former spoil heap into a community woodland and wildlife haven for the local community and visitors to enjoy, planting in total over 2million trees.

In 2009 Jaume Plensa's Dream sculpture was officially opened as a lasting memory of the sites former use. It sits on the apex of the former spoil heap and can be seen from miles around.Sutton Manor, Sherwood Pines

On the woodland site there are numerous paths and tracks to follow, an orienteering course, a heritage art trail , an audio trail and a fishing pond. The sites also holds various events throughout the year

Parking for the site is available at the King George V car park off the B5419, Jubits Lane.

The site also links in with the Farnworth Sutton Greenway. This is a footpath and cycleway that connects up Dream and Sutton Manor woodland with the outskirts of Widnes at Mill Lane.

A new and evolving idea is that of the establishment of Bold Forest Park. This is an initiative to develop woodlands and businesses in south St Helens. It includes the former colliery sites of Sutton Manor, Colliers Moss and Clock Face, as well as woodland at Brickfields, Maypole, Wheatacre and Griffin Wood.
