Highway Rat Activity Trail at Hicks Lodge

The Highway Rat is the latest Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler book to be brought to life on our forest trails. Follow the panels, complete activities and interact with the forest as you head on a journey with The Highway Rat and all the characters from the story!

Activity KitHighway Rat trail dates and information

The trail is now open. It is aimed at younger children, but the whole family can enjoy completing activities and spotting characters. You can find the start of the trail at the playground entrance near the main car park and it is about 1 mile in length.

Join the Highway Rat on his journey through the forest with the Highway Rat Activity Pack! The pack contains an activity leaflet plus an extra activity sheet, a Highway Rat mask, stickers of the Highway Rat characters, a pencil and a crayon. Buy your activity pack from the cafe for just £3.

Highway ratHighway Rat Forest Feast

You're invited to The Highway Rat Forest Feast on Tuesday 10 July from 9.30-11.30am and 12.30-2.30pm! Bring your own picnic and head to Hicks Lodge where you'll meet The Highway Rat. On the day, there will also be chance to join the Little Acorns in their hunt for the Highway Rat. Follow trails, play games, bake bread over the campfire, listen to the story and join in with his adventures.
