Trail description

Mushroom Cycle Trail at Grizedale

There are over 4 million trees in Grizedale Forest. By completing this trail you will find out which is the most common tree and the most important one for producing timber. There are two trails to choose from, a long version (7 miles) or a short version (3 miles).

The Mushroom Cycle Trail

Find the wooden mushrooms scattered around the forest using the map. Count the dots on each mushroom and using the code work out which letter each mushroom is hiding. Maps are available from the Visitor Information Centre. The trail starts at Moor Top Car Park.
