Discover more about British reptiles and New Forest Reptile Centreamphibians and how they are being conserved in the New Forest.

Specially created display enclosures allow you to study these animals in close-up.

We have the only collection of all the native lizards, snakes, frogs and toads, including Britain's only venomous snake - the adder - and rarest lizard - the sand lizard.

Find out what you can see in the pods by downloading a copy of the New Forest Reptile Centre fact sheet.

  Discovery Trail

During your visit try the self guided Discovery Trail. You can download a pdf by clicking here .  The trail now starts and finishes at the Millyford Bridge end of the trail (for winter), not far from the Portuguese Fireplace. Use the pond at the top to orientate yourself.  The trail is a circular walk so may still be used.

I recently visited the Reptile Centre and was very pleased with my experience. It was amazing to see snakes and other reptiles in their natural habitat. The staff members were super friendly and knowledgeable. The only thing I would suggest is to install a cafeteria with drinks and some snacks/sandwiches. The reptile centre is also a great picnic spot, but some people like myself walk without food on me and rely on cafes on the way :)

After trekking several kilometres through forest to get there, it was a massive treat. I have dreamed of seeing an adder for 2 decades, and here I saw THREE! The staff are very friendly and approaching.

However, FORESTRY COMMISSION / RSPB - you really do need to install a cafeteria here, it would be super popular, especially for us hikers!!! This is hiking territory :)

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR MAKING THIS A SPECIAL DAY!

I love visiting with my 5 year old daughter. We always seem to manage to spot a few reptiles and it's nice to watch the birds at the feeder and on the nest camera. There are toilets and nice picnic spot with benches as well. Haven't done walk yet, but there's some nice forest to explore there.
