Trail description

A great long distance cycle route which takes in many sculptures.  The trail covers both sides of the valley taking in contrasting forest habitats and wonderful views.  Be prepared for the hills though! and includes a couple of miles of public road to ride.

Start at the Visitor Centre car park and follow the orange waymarkers. Please be aware this trail has a section along the public road.

5 Stars 5 Stars

I had a day walking the Silurian Way from Blind Lane car park, had trouble finding my way at the beginning with the way makers but improved as I went on, stopped for lunch at the cafe and enjoyed the visitor centre to find more about the sculptures, Then it was on to Carron Crag with great views, the only disappointment was the lack of info about the area and what great work you do.

Great to hear you enjoyed your visit. We have an area in the Visitor Centre where you can find out more about the history of Grizedale as well as how we look after the forest today. We are in the process of developing this area so please do take a look next time you visit.

Forestry Commission Response

I done this route as a training ride a couple of times now.on the second time from Rusland as its easier to ride the extra 6 miles than drive the narrow road in a van when it's busy.

Last time a couple of weeks back one or two of the markers had been damaged/missing and we got lost before the zipnwire area?

Jane Sewell, 10/Dec/2015

Thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear you experienced some difficulties on the trail. All our waymarked trails are inspected each month but we will let the ranger team know about the missing markers you came across so they can be repaired.
