Grizedale walking map

Trail description

The ultimate Grizedale walk, this trail takes you down one side of the Grizedale valley and back up the other, passing many of the sculptures along the way, as well as some of the best views in the forest. It includes the summit of Carron Crag, the highest point in the forest.

This trail is named after the geological time period in which the forests characteristic grey slate and shale rocks were formed.

Walked the trail yesterday after a few years absence. It was as ever ABSOLUTELY stunning but as a previous walker has commented some of the markers seem to be obscured by flora/fauna or have been damaged. I actually got lost at one point and thankfully a FC ranger came past, picked me up in his van and drive me back to an obscured green marker. It's a beautiful, stunning, route just keep your wits about you!

My wife and I walked the Silurian Way on 2nd November, the Autumn colors were amazing, as was the weather,it was 16 degrees able to walk in short sleeves, bit wet under foot but an excellent day out for about the Tenth time.

Went yesterday and had fabulous walk with friends. Beautiful autumnal colours and wonderful views. Would have given 5 stars but there were times when the direction of the path was misleading. Would highly recommend this walk.
