Conversations with Trees: Poetry Trail

Trail details

Trail description

Westonbirt Arboretum has long been a source of inspiration to artists and poets alike; if you choose to wander along the seasonal trail this autumn, you’ll discover a poetic new addition to some of the trees.

Eight special poetry installations, featuring the inspirational poems of local poet Marchant Barron, have been installed amongst and in the trees*, and you’ll be able to enjoy the soothing words of this promising poet amongst the tranquillity of the trees that inspired them.

Inspired by specific trees within the arboretum, each poem is a personal response to the tree that hosts it, and reflects the solace and wonder that they have inspired in Marchant on his regular visits to the arboretum. Marchant is a student at Bath Spa University and has received the Lord Snowdon Trust Award for the project Conversations with Trees.

*No trees have been damaged in the installation of the poems
