New parking payment system at Dalby Forest

Dalby’s popularity means that we have taken steps to make it easier and quicker to visit the forest, starting with a new 180-space car park last autumn and now a new parking payment system. This is being tested at the end of June 2017 and will go live soon after.

Where does the money from parking go?

Money raised through car parking fees goes into caring for the forest and its trees, trails, facilities, and play area. Our aim is to protect and improve Dalby and to look after the forest for everyone to enjoy.

How does it work?

When you arrive at Dalby, the barrier will lift and automatically record your number plate. Simply enter the forest and park up in one of the designated car parks.

At any time during the day you visit, use one of our ticketless payment machines to enter your registration number and pay for your parking. There’s no need to worry about keeping or displaying a ticket.

Payment machines are at the Visitor Centre, Visitor Centre car park, Sievedale car park, Jingleby and Pexton. It’s easiest to pay by card because all machines accept them – not all machines accept cash.

When you leave, the exit barrier recognises your number plate, knows you have paid and automatically lifts so you can leave the site. If you have any problems, just press the intercom button to speak to a member of staff.

It’s easy and quick. All you need to do is remember your car registration number!

Pay on the day

When you visit, you’ll need to pay for parking at a payment machine. Your payment covers you for the day of your visit and you can pay at any time on that day. If you have been given a day pass, just go along to the Information Point in the Visitor Centre to get it validated for exit.

Discovery Pass holders

As a Discovery Pass holder, the benefits include pre-paid parking. The new parking payment system will recognise your car registration and the barrier will automatically let you in and out. It’s the easiest way to visit the forest and makes sense if you visit us a few times through the year. Why not sign up today?
