A wonderful woodland setting in the Scottish Highlands
If you're into the outdoors and are looking for a way to make your special day even more special, then why not tie the knot in a wonderful woodland setting?
Chia-Aig Waterfalls near the shores of Loch Arkaig is a magical place - tranquil and unique.
The wedding ceremony site
The site is available for civil ceremonies, civil partnerships and religious ceremonies. It's located next to the Chia-Aig Waterfalls and Witches Pool. All around are mature, native trees. A visit before the big day is definitely recommended to appreciate the true beauty of this spot.
The surrounding area is steeped in history and legend. It was just above the waterfalls that, in 1746, Bonnie Prince Charlie hid in a cave from the redcoats after his defeat at the battle of Culloden.
You'll even be part of a little bit of Hollywood glamour, as it was at this location that Liam Neeson, playing Rob Roy, fled from his oppressors in the film of the same name.

How to find Chia-Aig Falls
- View a map of the location of Chia-Aig Waterfalls (link to an external site).
Chia-Aig Waterfalls is about 20 miles from Fort William, just beyond Achnacarry estate. Follow the A82 to the Commando memorial at Spean Bridge and turn left onto the B8004 to Gairlochy, crossing over the Caledonian Canal swing bridge.
From here, turn right onto the B8005 and follow the road almost as far as the shore of Loch Arkaig. The car park is on the right hand side. The last five miles of this road are single track, so take extra care.
Access to the wedding site from the car park is very easy and is suitable for wheelchair use.
