Wendover Woods
Tuesday 7th February 11am - Please note the Forest Drive has now re-opened following closure due to the snow.
Follow the 1 mile forest drive into the heart of this beautiful woodland and you will find a variety of things to do, see and experience. Set off along one of the many trails on foot, bicycle, buggy or horse for a relaxing exploration of the highest hill in the Chilterns. Alternatively participate in something a little more energetic, such as Go Ape! Tree Top Adventure, orienteering, or the fitness trail assault course. If that's all a little too energetic, just find a quiet spot to picnic, enjoy the views, have a barbecue or pop in to the cafe for coffee and cake.
Most of the trails within Wendover woods start and finish close to the central car park. Pick up a leaflet from site or download the map (PDF 421kb) to help you navigate your way.The woods are open 365 days a year so there's no excuse to stay indoors. Whatever the weather the paths are all very accessible as long as you don't mind a bit of a slope!

To find out more about the facilities available, the latest news, book a barbecue stand or apply for an Discovery Pass (annual parking pass) please follow the links from this page.
Please note that Orienteering post 16 has been temporarily removed.
Carry the forest in your pocket with new ForestXplorer iPhone app

Forestry Commission England has launched a free iPhone app to find your local woodland, download handy trail maps or learn about trees with an easy to use tree identifier.
Visitors can search for sites by event or activity, or find basic information such as opening times, things to do, directions and contact details for Forestry Commission Forest Parks.
The educational and fun app includes a photo gallery, UK common tree identifier and unique 3D tree illustrations. Users can identify a tree using its bark, seed or leaf within just a few clicks.
Visitors can also download pdf trail maps via GPS so that the app can still be used when exploring amongst the trees and out of phone signal range.
The award-winning app is available to download from iTunes from 25th April.
Find out more at www.forestry.gov.uk/mobileapp or download the app from iTunes - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/forestxplorer/id428559042?mt=8
