Idless Woods is a sheltered and tranquil woodland that runs along the side of the valley down to the river Allen. It's proximity to the pretty city of Truro makes it popular with local people; and the peaceful setting makes it popular with local wildlife.
Mammals: Depending on the time of day you visit Idless Woods (and how quiet you are!) you might just catch sight of red or roe deer, otter or badgers. We have information about Red deer, Roe deer, Badger and Otter
Birds: Both the nightjar and woodlark have been seen and heard in this wood, as have buzzard and even sparrowhawk. We have information about Nightjar and Woodlark
Habitats: There is evidence of semi-ancient woodland around the hillfort.
How to get there: From Truro follow the signs to the village of Idless. Continue through the village for a further mile. The entrance to the wood is on the right hand side.
