Wild Woods at Cowleaze
Buckinghamshire
England
Stokenchurch is the nearest town or village.
This wood is set high in the Chiltern Hills with amazing views over the surrounding countryside. As part of an ongoing collaboration with the Chiltern Sculpture Trust pieces of art are positioned within this outdoor gallery. Pieces are constantly updated, removed or resited, creating an exciting and ever changing collection.
Birds: Cowleaze is one of the best places to see Red Kites in the area. Often seen above the car park or soaring over the hills at the far end of the site, these fantastic birds have been successfully re-introduced to the Chilterns area. Buzzards, smaller and stockier than the red kites, can also be seen as well as robins, blue tits, woodpeckers and a variety of finches. We have information about Red kite
How to get there: Leave the M40 at junction 5 and follow the A40 north to Oxford for one mile. Turn off the A40 at the television mast, and signposted to the Sculpture Trail and continue for 2 miles, past the nature reserve, over the motorway and Cowleaze is on the left.
