Wildlife at Millwood Car Park

Millwood
Swansea
Wales
Oxwich is the nearest town or village.
OS Grid Reference: SS493882
HERON WITH YOUNG AT NESTAn Ancient Woodland with a wealth of woodland flowers, including Wild Daffodils, and veteran trees. The many ponds and streams are remnants of the Penrice Estate.

Mammals: Otters are known to the stream system which flows through Millwood. It is likely that they feed in the stream in the wood but we haven't found a holt(the otters home). We have information about Otter

Birds: On the streams Kingfishers and others have been known to fish. One pond is home to wildfowl such as Mallard and Moorhen and a Heron can be seen regularly.

Habitats: Millwood is an ancient woodland which was later an estate woodland and boasts a large number of tree types with Oak, Ash, Beech and small leaved Lime amongst them. The flora underneath these trees is interesting and varied with rarities such as wild daffodil.
Scattered throughout the wood are large, old, veteran trees which themselves support a number of animal and plant species.

How to get there:
Take the A4118 from Swansea. Take the Oxwich turning, the Car Park is just before the village of Penrice.
