SONG THRUSHA woodland with majestic beech trees which give a vivid orange colour in Autumn and shady respite from the sun in Summer. Below the trees bluebells give a Springtime show. Elsewhere, oak woods cover the slopes and give way to heathy scrubland at the break of the hill. The woods are full of birdsong in summer and in the evening you may see the bats feeding on the insects through the wood.

Mammals: Bats use the mature trees to roost and hunt for insects throughout the wood.

Birds: A variety of woodland birds can be seen or heard in the woods including Song Thrush, Goldcrest and Nuthrush.

Habitats: Ancient Upland Oakwoods are present on some of the lower slopes of the woodlands. On the higher ground the forest gives way to areas of Heathland.
