Wildlife at Slattadale

Gairloch and Kinlochewe are the nearest towns or villages.

CALEDONIAN PINESlattadale Forest is situated beside the western shores of Loch Maree about half way between Gairloch and Kinlochewe, and close to the Ben Eighe National Nature Reserve. The forest is mainly comprised of mixed conifer trees with important pockets of ancient oak and birch woodland. The largest island on Loch Maree (Eilean Ruairidh Mor) is also part of this forest and holds a pristine remnant of ancient Caledonian Pinewood.

Mammals: There is an opportunity to spot Pine Marten in this area. We have information about Red deer and Otter

Birds: Black Throated Divers can be seen on the Loch. We have information about Golden eagle

How to get there:
Slattadale Forest straddles the A832 road which runs between Kinlochewe and Gairloch in Wester Ross. The woodland is located beside beautiful Loch Maree with stunning views over the loch to Slioch and the Fisherfield hills. There is a bus service which runs between Gairloch and Inverness.
