Wildlife at River Affric Carpark

Glen Affric
Highland
Scotland
Cannich, Tomich, Struy, Beauly, Balnain, Drumnadrochit, and Inverness are the nearest towns or villages.
OS Grid Reference: NH204235
CALEDONIAN PINES AND SNOW COVERED MOUNTAINSThe River Affric carpark is at the end of the public road in Glen Affric. It is set in the heart of the Affric hills between Loch Beinn a 'Mheadhoin and Loch Affric.
Stunning views, waymarked walks, long-distance and hill walks available from this carpark make it the most popular one in Glen Affric. Try to arrive early in the height of the summer - it can be difficult to find a parking space.

Mammals: We have information about Red deer, Roe deer and Otter

Birds: The chaffinches in the carpark have become very tame, and, if you're very lucky crested tits visit the carpark too. We have information about Golden eagle and Osprey

Insects and reptiles: We have information about Adder and Pearl-bordered fritillary

Habitats: There are some fantastic ancient Scots pine trees in the carpark. Some of them are more than 300 years old. We have information about Pinewood

How to get there:
From either Beauly or Drumnadrochit, take the A831 to Cannich, then the unclassified road signposted Glen Affric. After two miles, at the Fasnakyle power station, turn right to Glen Affric. The River Affric carpark is ten miles along this road.
There is an infrequent bus service from Inverness as far as Cannich.
