Wildlife at Loch Beinn a Mheadhoin Carpark

ISLANDS WITH CALEDONIAN PINEThis is a beautiful and secluded carpark on the bank of Loch Beinn a Mheadhoin. Set amongst Scots pine and birch trees, with a lovely view of the loch, it's a popular place for a picnic and some peace and quiet.
There are no waymarked walks but you can have a short walk along the lochside or up the steep track along the Allt na Imrich for stunning views.

Mammals: Sometimes roe deer can be early in the morning in the carpark. We have information about Red deer, Roe deer and Otter

Birds: This is a great place for seeing red-throated divers displaying on the Loch. Also listen to many woodland birds singing during spring and summer. We have information about Osprey

Insects and reptiles: We have information about Adder and Pearl-bordered fritillary

Habitats: We have information about Pinewood and Upland bog

How to get there:
From either Drumnadrochit or Beauly, take the A831 to Cannich, then the unclassified road signposted Glen Affric. After two miles, at the Fasnakyle power station, turn right to Glen Affric. The carpark is six miles along the Affric road.
There is an infrequent bus service from Inverness as far as Cannich.
