Farigaig has a very attractive carpark, set amongst large trees with two pleasant picnic sites, an information centre and a network of waymarked walks.
Two of the walks have Forestry Commission waymarking - the Farigaig Walk and the River Walk. Other walks have been waymarked by the Highland Council. The 'Foyers Footpath Network' leaflet shows these walks including one that goes over hill ground to Foyers.
Mammals: From this carpark there are several walks into Farigaig Wood which has all the usual woodland animal species. We have information about Red squirrel, Red deer, Roe deer and Badger
Birds: Any walk in this area will be ehanced by the song and calls of the many birds that live and breed in Farigaig Wood.
Insects and reptiles: We have information about Adder and Pearl-bordered fritillary
How to get there:
From Inverness, take the B862 to Dores, then the B852 to Inverfarigaig. From Fort Augustus take the B862 and, one and a half miles after Whitebridge, take the B852 to Inverfarigaig.
The carpark is signposted from Inverfarigaig, just along the unclassified road to the Pass of Inverfarigaig.
There is a very infrequent bus service between Inverness and Fort Augustus.
