Drumnadrochit, Lewiston, and Balnain and Inverness are the nearest towns or villages.
OS Grid Reference: NH 503 294
There is no carpark at the entrance to Craigmonie woodland, instead it is better to use the carpark opposite the Gallery in Drumnadrochit and walk to Craigmonie. The access point is easily found next to two big Wellingtonia (or giant redwood) trees on either side of the farn track. From here, there are two waymarked walks - the Craigmonie walk and the Milton walk - you can also link these to paths in the neighbouring Balmacaan Wood (Woodland Trust Scotland) to make longer walks.
Mammals: Although animals are rarely seen, try either of the walks from this carpark - the Milton or the Craigmonie walk for spotting wildlife. You may be lucky to catch a glimpse of roe deer and also look out for signs animals leave behind. We have information about Red squirrel, Roe deer and Badger
Birds: The walks from here are great for spotting birds. See Craigmonie Wood for what's around.
How to get there:
From the A82 at Drumnadrochit, turn up onto Pitkerrald Road. After 200 metres, take the left hand fork onto a rough farm track, then another left hand fork soon after. Craigmonie woodland is another 200 metres along here on the west side of the track.
There is no parking, so it is better to park in the village carpark, adjacent to the A82 and follow these directions on foot.
There is a bus service between Inverness and Fort Augustus which stops at Drumnadrochit.
